Understanding Embossed Leathers

Rectangular plates averaging 26" x 48" are used to emboss leather. Hides are normally cut in half and embossed but can also be sold in full hides depending on the pattern. Joint marks occur where the plates match up and occur every 26"-29" vertically, depending on the plate. Joint marks may be visible on some patterns, but are particularly visible in geometric and woven patterns. Some patterns have a direction. For custom embossing, there is no limit to the possibilities whether it be a logo or eccentric pattern. However, we cannot emboss a finished leather or product.
